Winners of The Canadian Nightingale 2010

The beauty of Slovak folk songs could be enjoyed by the audience in a far away Canada. The Slovak House (www.slovakhouse.org) a Toronto-based organization organized the Canadian version of the „Slovak Nightingale“ competition, which in Slovakia popularizes Slovak songs among the youth for 20 years already. The Garantor of the event is, just as in Slovakia, famous Opera singer Peter Dvorsky, and the competion was financially supported by the Office for Slovaks Living Abroad.

Many young singing adepts entered the competition, mostly from among the children of immigrants from Slovakia, and the Jury, consisting from experts in singing, theatre and folk arts selected finalists in two categories, from 4 to 9 years and from 10 to 16 years of age.

The finals took place on Sunday, October 17 in Toronto, in the presence of His Excellency, Ambassador of the Slovak Republic Milan Kollar. The finalists in both categories  warmed the hearths of audience with their youthful enthusiasm and approach. The winners were all who competed, but the trophies were presented to the following singers:

Category 1 – children from 4 to 9 years old:
Golden Canadian Nightingale: EMILY TIMDALE
Silver Canadian Nightingale: LUCAS TIMDALE
Bronze Canadian Nightingale: IZABELA ZUBEK

Category 2 – children from 10 to 16 years old:
