Kanadský Slovák / The Canadian Slovak received important journalistic award in Canada

The National Ethnic Press and Media Council of Canada announced their 2011 award recipients. This includes 10 individuals for ‘distinguished services’ they offered to Canadian communities, five Journalists for ‘professional Excellence’, fourteen newspapers for excellence in editorial and or visual presentation, two magazines and one TV station for best and informative concept.

Among the newspaper honored for the excellence in editorial and visual presentation is Kanadský Slovák and its Editor Július Behúl. It is the second time Kanadský Slovák and Mr. Behúl received this prestigious award, first such award was received in 2008.

The Honourable David C. Onley, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario will host the Awards ceremony and present the awards to the recipients. The Award winners will be recognized on Friday, October 28, at 6 pm, in the Lieutenant Governor’s Suite, at the main legislative building at Queen’s Park. This will be the seventh year that the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario will have hosted the ceremony for the presentation of the Awards.

This prestigious award at the All-Canadian level is a tribute not only for The Canadian Slovak and Mr. Behúl, but also a visible recognition of the Slovak community in Canada and our contributions to Canadian journalism. Congratulations.
