Ottawa Artist Helps Slovak Flood Victims

Dr. Metod Likavčan, a retired physician who is also an artist and violin maker, sold a number of his art pieces in the St. Hyacinth Church Hall after the Slovak Mass on September 12, 2010. He donated the entire proceeds to the fundraiser organized by the Ottawa Branch of the Canadian Slovak League for the victims of Slovakia’s recent floods.

His works vary in their style and content. Some are painted on glass in the old Byzantine traditions and include traditional Slovak landscapes and religious icons while other works are modern and abstract. In the past year, he has had numerous exhibitions of his art in libraries, galleries and public halls in several towns and cities in Quebec.
